Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin'
Dwarf Buddha Belly Bamboo

Rare cultivar of Bambusa vulgaris, Wamin is a more manageable 'Buddha Belly' bamboo with nice fat 3" diameter internodes. Regular Buddha Belly B. ventricosa needs to be stressed to show the swollen bellies, and if pampered B. ventricosa will slim up and grow into a giant. 'Wamin' stays small and is slow growing. Makes a good potted plant but soil must be kept moist (not waterlogged) Grows well in partial shade.

12' tall, 3 " dia culms, good to 30 deg F

Wamin Bamboo Culm, note ring of potential roots on lower node.
This is a good indication this bamboo can be propagated from culm cuttings.
