Clumping Tropical Bamboo

Bambusa 'Odashimae'

Incorrectly called "Edulis" in the USA. A native to Taiwan with large green leaves, grown for shoots. Similar in form to Oldhamii, except the culms arch out at the base, then turn upward. Culm sheaths yellow.

65' tall, 2.5" dia culms, good to 25 deg F

B. odashimae may have double rings on the base nodes, has lemon yellow dropping culm sheaths, for a short day of two while changing from green to brown and dropping off. The culms of B. odashimae are sometimes crooked at the joints growing occasionally as some odd angle looking like the culm might have been broken early on.
